About the Role

The Manager of Volunteer Engagement is responsible for the strategy and initiatives that support Besa’s game-changing work around civic engagement. The Manager of Volunteer Engagement will lead the Volunteer Department to develop volunteer programming, strengthen stakeholder relationships, leverage data and analytics to advance Besa, and ultimately amplify our community through civic engagement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead Besa’s Volunteer Department (35%)
    Act as a single point of contact for communications within the Volunteer Department to ensure a cohesive message is delivered across the volunteer program. Work closely with the Volunteer Engagement staff to carry out the volunteer strategy with nonprofit partners, corporate stakeholders and the Besa volunteer community. Survey staff regularly to assess needs, review and implement feedback, provide guidance, and assist in problem-solving.
  • Manage program strategy (25%)
    Develop strategies that amplify volunteerism across the Besa platform. This includes strengthening relationships with nonprofit partners, corporate stakeholders and the Besa volunteer community. Evaluate key metrics and implement solutions that amplify program effectiveness.
  • Support strategic partnerships (15%)
    Manage relationships with Besa’s nonprofit partners and corporate stakeholders to provide ongoing support, guidance and strategies that enhance their volunteer programs.
  • Administrative duties (15%)
    Analyze, manage, and track metrics for Besa’s Volunteer Department. Manage other administrative duties as needed.
  • Business-Critical Operations (10%)
    Assist as needed with business-critical operations, including supply drives and Besa’s Be The Good fundraiser. Represent Besa in the community.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years project management experience in the nonprofit sector, including experience leading a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic training.
  • Adept at building community connections and nurturing relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator.
  • Results-oriented and committed to high-touch customer service.
  • Highly proficient using technology, including Basecamp, Airtable, Google Drive, Adobe Cloud and Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organized with great project management skills and an ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Exhibits professionalism, optimism, energy, and enthusiasm; enjoys working with diverse constituents; and thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Committed to the mission of Besa and a desire to change the world with us.

Travel Requirements

Because this position will require some local travel, reliable transportation is required.
